The Department of Internal Medicine at Sterling Hospitals manages the prevention, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of different maladies. It is the first point of contact whenever a patient visits the hospital. A general physician directs a physical examination of the patient and after that suggests vital tests and diagnostic techniques. The consequences of these tests, the general physical examination and indications are then corresponded to arrive at a final diagnosis. Depending on the final diagnosis, the patient is given the necessary treatment, usually medication by the general physician or is referred to a specialty department for further treatment.

The department maintains high alertness in managing the regular illnesses and tropical diseases. Dealing with the patients afflicted with Dengue, CCHF and Chikungunya amid the recent flare-up of these infections demonstrated the ability and competence of the Internal Medicine team at our hospitals. The department treated a large number of patients influenced by these infections with an enviable success rate.
